Public Meetings in Wootton January 1902
The monthly meeting of the Whippingham Parish Council took place at St. Michael’s Sunday School, Wootton Common on Tuesday the 17th with Mr Burgess presiding, items of interest on the agenda were as follows:
- 1. A bill for £1.15.0 for the repair of a footpath in the Wootton submitted and agreed.
- 2. A plan of village boundaries was tabled for inspection by the parish council.
- 3. Discussion on the proposed water supply for Wootton was tabled, but no decision taken.
A public meeting was held at St. Michael’s Institute on Wednesday 18th with Mr W. Souter presiding. It was decided that the balance of the Coronation funds should be held in reserve for the building of a village hall in the future. Other items on the agenda were the subject of street lighting in the village and the buying of the road on the north side of the village.
