St. Mary's Sunday School thrived. Each year the Anniversary was celebrated. The 1908 anniversary seems to have coincided with the Harvest Festival.
The Castle stands across the valley - an imposing sight. Keats wrote "I do not think I shall ever see a ruin to surpass Carisbrooke Castle". It is steeped in history. King Charles was imprisoned here.
The moat is crossed by a stone bridge. There is plenty to see ... the Chapel of St. Nicholas, the well house ... the massive old keep giving a commanding view of the rest of the castle, the famous bowling green and the surrounding countryside.
