2015 Pearl Izumi Tour Series

Thursday 14th May will see Ryde hosts the opening race in this 2015 cycle event series.

Details of the Ryde event and others locations can be found on the organizers web site www.tourseries.co.uk including island road closures.

The venue will be Ryde Esplanade, Union Street area, full course detail will be available on the above web nearer the time.

There will be a time trial starting at 3.30pm in the afternoon, followed by the main race in the evening commencing at 7.30pm.

Presentation to the teams will be on the Esplanade around 9.00pm

The Izumi series is for teams of ten professional riders and the event will include top riders.


Open day at Ryde Marina Bowls Culb

In order to encourage people to take up the sport the bowls club are running a six week coaching course starting on Saturday 10th May

The coaching will start at 10 am and is free, and so will the equipment.

Waterside Pool, Ryde

In aid of the pool there will be a plant sale at on Saturday 16th May between 10am and midday.

Everybody is welcome and refreshments will be available.

2015 Lambretta Day

The Isle of Wight is again staging a “Lambretta Day”, it will be held on Sunday 24th May [Bank Holiday weekend].

It is proposed that scooters will assemble in Newport by midday and then proceed to Ryde Pavilion on the seafront.

There will be a BBQ, and live bands at the Pavilion bar until 6.00pm.

Evening entertainment will be available in the Pavilion, an entrance fee will be charged.

Barton Manor Garden Fair

The above event will be held on Sunday 7th June in the grounds of the manor, the event is timed at 10 am until 4 pm.

The event is being held in aid of Isle of Wight Age UK. www.ageukiw.org.uk and Challenge & Adventure, who can be contacted on 01983.527026

Entrance will be £4.00 for adults, concessions for disabled £2.00, children under 14 years free, [guide dogs only].

There will be talks and tours of the gardens, local craft and gift stalls and refreshments, music and entertainment will be provided throughout the day.

Isle of Wight Rifles Publication

publicity coverTo commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Suvla Bay, Gallipoli landings in 1915 we have produced an updated version of the Regimental History of the Isle of Wight Rifles. Based on an earlier work by Dennis Quigley this has been revised and up-dated to include new images and maps. This has been made available in response to numerous requests by family members of those who served in the regiment during this time. Copies of this 46 page book are available in PDF format, free of charge, from the Official Isle of Wight Rifles website upon request.

Join the Launch of the Carbon Cycle Celebrations in St James Square, Newport, Saturday 13 September 2014. Start time 11 am lasting for 4 hours.

Diabetes talk

Professor Michael Cumming MD. FRCS. is giving a talk at the Riverside Center on Monday 11th May starting at 2.30 pm and the presentation is expected to last one hour.

Subject of the lecture is “Current ongoing research into diabetes around the UK.”

Admission is free and refreshments will be available from 2.00pm

Isle of Wight Walking Festival

This year’s festival will be between the 2nd May until the 17th.

There are 250 walks planned that will suit all ages and ability.

Wolverton Manor Folk and Blues Fair

This event will be held at Wolverton on Saturday 16th May from 11.30am until 8.00pm

Artists will included Dave Kelly, Claydon Connors, JC Grimshaw Band, Camerata Choir, Moonshiners,The Grimaldi Band, The Dollymopps, Laurie McVay, The Nightwatchmen, Nick Crane and many more.

Facilities will include;- Beer tent, Food stalls, Children activities, Circus skills, Craft stalls and Refreshment tent.
